We did it, we bought a bus. Here’s how it started….
One evening while playing farkle with friends, I randomly asked “ Can you take kids on the PCT trail?” With my love of running trails, I have dreamed of hiking or running the PCT trail. This question led to many evenings of researching the PCT trail and all of its glory. It felt like a dream that was coming to life. However, after a week of nonstop you tube watching and blog reading, I realized that although it sounded like an awesome adventure we may not be ready. Our youngest girl is probably still a little too young to walk 20 miles per day and our oldest is definitely too clumsy. So even though the trail may not happen anytime soon we knew that we were done with the 9-5 and what most would call “normal” living.
We quickly started brainstorming our next move. I have been so intrigued by tiny homes ever since the first video I saw a few years back. I craved the simplicity and adventure. The only problem with the tiny home is you need to have a truck to move it from place to place and you need a place to put it. I wanted to travel. I wanted to camp, run, and hike. I wanted my family to fall in love with nature, to understand why I love it so much.
Enter a school bus. The perfect combination of a tiny home and RV. We started watching numerous vidoes and reading blogs about boondocking and living full time in a school bus. That was it. That was the dream and we knew that we weren’t going to stop until we made that dream a reality. Our plan was to find a bus, renovate it, sell our house and any extra belongings. Then just take off and see what happens.
Within a week we found the perfect bus for us and everything started falling into place. We hope you follow us through this process to make our dream come true.
